Harrington Tunnel

This tunnel is another tunnel not known to most people any many people ask what it is, the entrance to the tunnel is still there and is located near Horsefall Street on the dock road, openned in 1864 and closed in the late 1898 it lead to the Mersey Forge East Yard, during the early 1900s the site was filled in. The entrance on the docks has now had a new development built above the tunnel so to support the building above metal supports have been put inside the tunnel to prevent collapse, further into the tunnel is built up with soil from when the site was filled in.

The tunnel docks entrance opens up near the site of the new Brunswick Station, due to the time it closed in 1898 and the tunnel can only be accessed by crossing the live rails not many photos exist of the tunnel.
